Founded in 1974 by late Rev. Fr. Mariadasan S.J., with 3 children, Anbarasi Home has grown up over the years. Fr.Mariadasan purchased the existing land consisting of 4 acres in favor of Anbarasi Social Action at the outskirts of Dindigul town with the funds from his well-wishers. With a vision to expand its activities, he has constructed a ground floor which has been used for Library, Store Room and dormitory for staying girl children.
In 1992, TERRE Des HOMMES of Netherlands visited Anbarasi. Inspired by the services done by Fr. Mariadasan, TERRE Des HOMMES constructed and donated about 5,000 sq. ft. premises in the first floor to Anbarasi. The spacious building in the first floor stands as a testimony to the gracious gesture of TERRE Des HOMES of Netherlands to Anbarasi is also used for staying girl children.
The Home did not have any regular donors. With the help of the local community and well-wishers, Rev. Fr. Mariadasan has managed & maintained the Home. On the demise of Rev. Fr. Mariadasan in 2000, the Home was virtually orphaned. Rev. Sr. Josephine, an elderly woman of 70 years who was associated with Rev. Fr.Mariadasan since beginning managed the home children by providing basic amenities with the help of volunteers Mr.Nagendran, Mr.Godhandapani and Mr.Arockia raj who are the local residents and working in a private concern for their home needs and administering the home. In 2012 Anbarasi had joined hands with Local Doner Support Only, Texas, United States as a miracle. After collaboration with Local Doner, 70% of the expenditure is contributed by Local Doner Support Only which is mainly used for food, dresses, education, medical and other purposes. The home found miraculous developments after joint venture with Local Doner in infrastructure of home, child growth, education and sports.
When Rev. Sr. Josephine was no more in June 2016, the home is fully came under the control of above volunteers and taking care of all children by appointing staff for all the posts.
